Basketball and more...

Blake has had a few basketball games already.  He was very excited to dress up for his first game and go to school.
He did pretty decent.  He plays a lot like Cora did when she started out.  She was much to kind.  He needs to get more aggressive, but he is learning lots and I am sure it will come.  Blake is loving it.

The night of his first game was also our ward Nativity.  Once again they put me in charge of decorating.  I said I wanted to do same as last year since it worked so well.  We got everything set up the night before.  There were two showings.  Leah's practice got cancelled, so she was able to come.  We rushed home from Blake's game and had 10 minutes to eat and change.  Leah had put dinner in the crock pot for us.  There was some miscommunication about Leah and Emily singing together.  As a result Natalie took them into another room to pick a song and run over it a few times 20 minutes before they went on. Crazy girls.  The wind was finally calm enough for Dave to fix our shingles Saturday.

It is so high up there.  He anchored in and got it all finished.

Blake and I climbed up and just sat to see what it was like.  Going up was fun, coming back down was very nerve racking.

This past weekend Leah had a tournament.  They did not play well at all.  Not sure what happened, but it did not come together for any of them.  The tournament was a little over an hour from our house.  Saturday morning, half way through the first game, Leah got hit and her contact fell out.  Stupid us, we did not even think to take extra.  Dave had just finished putting his car back together and met me half way.  Lesson learned: always pack extra and glasses.

Sunday, Leah sang in sacrament meeting with grandma and Emry.  They did a really great job.  I had rented Calamity Jane and we could not figure out a night this week that we were going to be home to watch it.  I decided that if we started it as soon as Dave got home, ate dinner downstairs and fast forward all the songs, we could do it.  And we did. :)  Leah missed it since she was finishing her talk for YW and Excellence that afternoon.  None of us even bothered to change.  She did another fabulous job at YW and Excellence this year.  She had really thought out and planned what she wanted to do.  After, we headed straight to Toone's ward for a song practice.  Leah, Emily and Katana were singing in their ward Cantata that night.  Their ward and community have amazing choirs.  Dave has been asked to sing with them a few times and would LOVE to, but he just isn't able to commit to the time.  We told the kids we were not closing the building this time.  But of course we still did.  Blake's second game was Monday. We took dinner up to Leah and watched his game, then she went to practice.  Last night was Leah's band performance.

Her band teacher is awesome.  He got all the numbers done and cleaned up in 50 minutes.  Now that is my kind of concert.  We were excited to be home so early at 8:45.  We had an early night before us.  Then we ended up talking to Cora for and hour and a half, so guess not.  But we love talking to her when she is free.  Cora has been given a lot of hours this week at Chapters.  She absolutely loves it there.  We are hoping, hoping, hoping that they will keep her on after the Christmas season.  Fingers crossed.   Tonight we have back to back basketball practices with both kids and Leah's physio.  We are on the down slide of all that we have before Christmas break.  Thursday is the Choral Festival that everyone is singing in, Friday is the stake youth activity.  Dave has asked me to do the food for it, and 12 and up are invited to this one. Cora is coming down to help me prep for that and serve.  So we will all be there.  Then Saturday is our ward Christmas party.  Then breathe and sleep.  Christmas season is always filled with some many fun things.
