Goodbye Edmonton

Six years ago we packed up our 17 year old first born and moved her to Edmonton.  It was sad to have her gone.  But also so fun to see her thrive.  Cora made tons of friends, partied up a storm, had a few church callings and jobs, and embraced YSA whole heartedly.  Loved every minute of it.  Prepared for her mission, took mission prep class a few times and saved her money.  Three years ago Leah followed.  Cora was back from her mission and they roomed together.  Living the best YSA life.  They dated lots, made many friends, did some schooling, had jobs, and attended institute.  We made many trips up, mostly day trips.  To visit, to meet friends, to fix Morgan, any excuse we had to see our girls. Edmonton has been good to our family.  We gained two awesome son-in-laws and have made some good memories.  This last week Ammon and Cora decided that they were not going to continue to pay rent this time as they were away on a project since it is such a long one.  Cora flew home Tuesday.  Leah came and picked up Blake and headed to Edmonton to help her pack and clean.  They had a blast together.  When Cora was first up and rooming with Maycie, Leah and Emily had gone up for a weekend and had the best time.  They girls had always wanted to have Blake come and do the same thing.  But with Covid he couldn't go up at first, then Cora got married and wasn't around.  Leah's work schedule never worked out the same with Blake's basketball and it just didn't happen.  This week they fit in a lot of the things they would have liked to do. They did a lot of packing and organizing.  Also late night and staying up talking.
They went to Remedy ...

...and Steel Wheels.  Blake loved Steel Wheels.  The girls have talked about it for years.  There is live bands and you get sharpies to decorate the tables.  Blake said he wrote a scripture with his sharpie.

Leah took them to her and Braydon's look out spot and they did some exploring around.

On the way home, Blake and Leah stopped in to see her in-laws quick and got Crumbl Cookie.

Then made the trek home.  I headed up just after they got back.  Cora and I finished packing and dove in to the cleaning.  We were nearly done and waiting for the day that the trailer would arrive.  We went on a walk around a cool path, picked some flowers and got some more boxes.  Ammon decided last minute Friday to fly back and help.  He had bit of unexpected free time.  We picked him up from the airport at 1am.  I decided since packing was all done and they had some friends to say goodbye to, that I would go home a day early.  It left them without a car, but they were close enough to walk to church and had rides to the airport, so it was all good.  Ammon flew back Monday and Cora finished the cleaning and flew back to work on Tuesday.  So ends our journey with Edmonton, for now.  Maybe Blake will go, maybe one of the kids will get transferred back.  But Goodbye for now.  Edmonton you have been a big part of our life for the past 6 years.  Thanks for the friends, son-in-laws, memories and good times.
