October, October, here we are. The month started with General Conference. Hatch's came up and hung out with us. Great messages as always. I will have to go back and read them as cute little girls can be very distracting.
The next weekend we went to Drumheller to have an overnight stay in the Tahoe. I googled free places to stay overnight and found two options. We checked them both out to see which we preferred. We hiked Horseshoe Canyon. That was really neat. We could have gone forever along the canyon floor. I was worried about snakes but we didn't see any thankfully.
We cooked dinner and looked around town. Then settled down for the night. It was very very cold. The next morning was a quick breakfast, got all packed up, packed our lunch so we wouldn't have to pull the cooler out again. We tried out the Tyrell Museum, Hoodoos, Suspension Bridge, and an old coal mine.
It was all fun and since it was so cold and windy there were no rattle snakes out. Bonus.
The mine was really cool. We spent a long time walking around and looking at everything.
All but Barrett's came for Thanksgiving. We had my parents and Myrna as well. It was a simple ham dinner. We ate late as I had not thawed the ham enough the day before.
I worked every day the next two weeks, finally got my hair cut (it was long over due) and then went to sushi and a basketball game with all the kids.
Cora invited us to go to sushi with them for her birthday. Dave was supposed to be at a YM's fall camp, but a cold wind came in and snow was called for so the call was to cancel. Nice for me as he was able to come with me. Dave doesn't mind sushi. I was quite certain I didn't like it since I don't really like fish and raw fish.....yeah. But I went to see what the hype was. I was indeed correct. I do not like sushi. The flavors were ok, but I had a really hard time with the texture. It was the second piece of raw fish and I was just staring at it and working up my courage when Blake laughed at me. He said is it the texture, are you talking yourself into it. I was like yes and yes. But I did it. I tried every single thing they ordered. I was very brave :) And the basketball game was fun.
We got our potatoes dug and have another big crop, some big potatoes.
Dave and I have volunteered to work at the Giving Machine in November. We had a zoom training session. This is where we learned the back technical stuff and what our role will be. I'm excited to work there, Dave is doing it because I am excited to do it.
I had another Grandma Shower for a person in our ward. This time we painted blocks and did a 'what is grandma called around the world' game. We had a nice time and it was fun to get together with the small group of women.
Next day we headed to a funeral for a man that Dave knew growing up.
Halloween we went to Hatch's for dinner, trick or treating, way to many treats, games and the best cinnamon rolls ever. I don't like cinnamon rolls. Have tried many in my years since they are such a popular thing. Tried a few different techniques myself. Finally decided they just were not for me. But Cora made some and the were amazing. I am going to have her show me her secrets. Jane was so cute trick or treating. Cora thought she would be done after an hour or so, but she did not want to go home. She was loving it and loved watching everyone. It was a warm night. We got back to Hatch's house later than we had thought we would. Cora made some snack, I got to try out the rowing machine and then we played a few games before it was time for Dave and I to head home as he had an early morning.
Another great month, family makes life so wonderful.
