Some July Things Part 2

Our haying was going well.  We had been taking turns each night with Amber and Jared, which was nice.  That way one family got a free night.  Our turn came back up Wednesday, usually we try to go to the temple that night.  When we got out to the field that night, we discovered we had had rain and it was to wet to continue.  I was a little disappointed since we could have made it to the temple had we only known.  But that is how things go.  Then Thursday Amber and Jared had got lots done and I was sure we could finish Friday.  We tried to start early when it was not to hot, but the dew did not dry until almost 11.  I had started raking because there was a wind and we knew it was drying fast.  I got enough ahead of Dave that he sent me home, I needed to make bread, and he continued.  Not long after he sent me at text saying the rake had broken.  Great! A few hours later I was sure Dave would be back to the home quarter and then got a call saying he had run out of gas.  Got that sorted then a bit later the tractor died in the middle of the road. It was a long ordeal, but we got it towed off the road and into the field just before dark.  So we did not get done.  And I had such high hopes to start that morning.

Cora came again for Kailey's farewell.  She has been burning up the highway and we have loved seeing her.    Kailey is off to teach the people of Chile.

Cora was able to stay Monday as well.   We had been watching weather all day.  I am not sure if Cora will make it back down again for a day on the lake.  It was beautiful until just about the time Dave got off work.  We had decided sadly not to go, then the clouds seemed to switch direction and we jumped in the car.  As we got closer and closer the storm turned back towards the lake.  We were hoping to get a few runs in for her, but we were to late. It was to risky.

They whitecaps came up fast.

We ended up going for a walk and hanging out.  It was  a bit chilly with the wind, but it was so nice just to be together.

These three sure miss each other.  I have had a few compliments lately about how well my kids get along and how close they are.  I am so happy they do.  We worked really hard to make sure they were.  I hope they always stay that way.

Came home to a beautiful rainbow.  The kids ended up watching a movie and staying up way to late.  But loving it.

Of course every time Cora comes home, we get to see the Toone's as well.  She really misses Maycie as her roommate and they try to see each other whenever she is here.
Dave likes to make sure all his kids know how to take care of their own car.  Last night was Leah's lesson in how to change oil.  She can do the tire and she also learned to check all the fluids.

Leah has been getting a lot of hours at work.  She really enjoys her job.  She has a busy weekend.  It is like a comic con and she will be working 14 hour days.  But she gets paid well for it.  Blake has also been enjoying his little job.  He goes most days for a few hours.  I love that he can ride his dirt bike back and forth.  We are feeling blessed this summer.

Some July Things Part 1

I am behind in blogging, so will have to do this in two parts and condense so it is not crazy long.  I am having trouble uploading pictures and have been trying to sort that out.  But it needs to be done, so I guess we will go with what we have. :/
I love these two old vehicles.  It is fun to see Dave and Blake come bopping back in the yard.
Cora made a quick trip down the first part of July.  She had one last thing to check off on her mission papers before they were ready.  She drove down Wednesday, back up Friday for a run and then back down Saturday for a wedding.

Cora had a friend drive down with her the second time to help save on gas, since they were both going to the wedding.  They ended up having so much fun shooting cans that they never did make it to the reception.
Dave came home one day and surprised us all with a few short hours open to take the boat out.  Both the kids had been asking for a while.  Leah was so excited when she came around the bushes and saw the boat.  It was a wonderful night.

They are trying to learn to drive the boat well enough to pull Dave as he skies.  I really don't like driving, it makes me nervous, so I am happy they want to.

One day we went to work with Dave.  We had to all get up at 4 a.m.  We had packed tons of food for all day.  We dropped Dave off, then went to a park to have a nap. We ate breakfast and went for a walk.

Then we went over to visit with mom for a few hours.  It was fun.  Nicole, Kailey, Ernie, and Dad all showed up as well.  While Mom went to her bike therapy we walked around to see the fish and play the piano.  Leah got quite a few smiles and people stopping to listen, but then I noticed that a man was trying to watch TV and we had interrupted.  Ooopps!!

Blake very much enjoyed rolling around in Grandma's wheelchair while we were there.  He even wheeled down the hall to the fridge to get a treat.

After mom's therapy and all had arrived we went out and chatted some more in a beautiful little garden spot.  Next we headed to the pool.  Blake and Leah swam for a few hours until it was time to go back and pick up Dave. (The day before Leah had drove down and gone swimming with her friends while I got groceries)  Dave had just gotten his office set up a few days before, so we went in to see how it looked.

Then finally off for pizza and Shakespeare in the Park.

It was raining and so they moved it indoors.  Usually they just cancel it.  While I am glad that I did not get wet, it was not the same having it inside.  Some of the magic was lost. Lastly, as is tradition, we got Frosty's and headed home.

Cora's interview with her stake president was great.  She had been really nervous about it.  But he put her at ease and said some really nice things about her.  We are just waiting for the call to come back.  Last update she got 11 days ago, was it was ready to be assigned.  Can't wait to see where and when this girls goes.  Leave a guess if you want to.

🇨🇦 Canada Day 🇨🇦

It was a very different Canada Day for us this year.  We didn't get out to my parents as we always do.  Things just didn't work out this year.  I really missed my little 8 minute parade and the beef and beans.  Also it was on a Sunday this year.  Where I grew up the celebration is always moved to the Saturday, here where I live it wasn't.  We tried to do a few things that we felt were still Sabbath appropriate to celebrate.  Dave hung up a flag for us.
We wore our red and white to church.  Leah had to work, but she dressed patriotic as well.

I love singing all 4 verses of O Canada in church.  I wish we did more often.  Jared and Amber had invited us for burgers at their camp site after church.  Dave had a few things to finish up, then we walked through the show and shine before going to eat.  The burgers were delicious.  I tried making the same Jell-O that probably everyone in Canada did yesterday.  :)  I am not artistic at all, but it was good enough you could tell what I was going for.

We stayed for a little while after eating, went for a walk, and then left in time to make sure we were home when Leah got home.  As we got to the top of the hill and got cell service back I saw I had a message from Leah.  She was home early and wanted to know if she should come to the campground.  Too bad I didn't have service.  We got home and played some games, read, read scriptures, and watched a movie.  After we went back into town to watch the fireworks.  I really enjoy fireworks.

It turned out to be a nice day, just very different from our usual.  And I missed our tradition.  Next year!!  I am so thankful to live in this country.  We are a great nation.  Cora had fun with her friends.  They had a ward potluck.  Actually a different ward but in YSA they ward hop for potlucks all the time.  She then walked to the fireworks and after went to a few different houses and played games until 4 in the morning. She was extremely tired when I called to chat this morning.
